A Pitts Python waiting to strike .... NIB !
«

I have a beautiful biplane thats just too tempting to let lie. Its a WS of 54" but built so well and light that its suggested power is a 60 engine or motor. The only issue i face is transportation as I cannot take it assembled to the field. Imagine trying to open 16+ nuts and bolts on the field. I dont know if i will get to fly it if I need to assemble it on the field !
But the plane is sexy...probably the best I have seen in terms of cowl, canopy and the wood parts.
The cowl is about 9.5" wide for a 60 size power its awesome.

Lovely, sent you a PM
And also at the indicated wing area and weight (I have taken the weight to be 4.5 lb) the wing loading is going to be 14.56oz/sq ft. Should have a real wide flying envelope with this wing loading, you could go slow or crazy either way

Sunil,
The black tubes on the fuse sides, are they CF tube, what is the intended purpose of these tubes? Push rod outers (does not look like) or stiffners?
And with so may tabs and locks how is the gluing quality, do the joints have enough glue to give you peace of mind? From what I have experienced, laser cutting being so accurate, most of the manufactureres just make some one run with an open can of cyno through thier assembly line and lo-and -behold suddenly you have assembled airframes.

To give credit to the devil Manish....even though i was ogling the plane I did not notice the CF tubes which they are Carbon fiber. They definitely make the fuselage rear strurdier as you will see it doesn't have much wood back there. Those are stiffeners.
The wood and fit/finish of this is excellent. But i guess if one does add his own cyno to the plane its not doing any harm.
Actually this manufacturer is OEM to Hyperion and Sebring and I was quite impressed by his finish. They are lil pricey by the present standard we are used too but we have all experienced the quality on the recent cheaper planes we have seen imported to India.
I have seen 5 planes in Pune and ALL of them are grounded/crashed and over with before the month was over in 2-3 flights itself.
Cheers

Sunil, you must credit the manufacturer for this BEAUTY.....Having seen it, I was tempeted for a moment to get back into planes (confessing). The covering, internal details, finish, cowling, was all perfect and desirable. Forgot to ask you about avialablity, sourcing etc.
It is well worth the effort to carry it to the field and then set it up, so let that not be an issue to have this bird in the air. I am looking forward to seeing this bird flying asap ! Am sure it will keep us all drooling.

Happy to say the babe is out of her closet and almost built up already . I have really had a pleasure building this ARF as I havent come more than a minor or so issues in getting her ready. I big issue was surprising the plane servo slots were designed for mini servos
I spoke to the manufacturer and he said that this was for a European client. Widening those out took care of the same. The rudder is Pull-Pull with Hitec 625 and the elevator also uses a Hitec 625. I am waiting to get POWER HD servos which give 9kgs of torgue at cost just about 1200/-
. Good reviews on the servos.
The wings I went with mini std servos with 3kg/cm torque. Fitting the wings on the plane are the most laborious of the lot with lots of screws
One thing is definite everything has been very well thought out and fits to the T. The wheel pants are lovely and I had some drilling to do there. But it definitely struck me that this plane was very well designed and I was nitpicking on even the wheel pants being drilled. I haven't come across any ARFs which have.
The Saito 100 comes in the front with the extra strengthening the kit came with. HAve checked the CG and its puurrfect ....
I will shift my battery pack to make it more tail heavy once the cowl comes on. The AUW weight of the plane is coming to 3350 gms which is quite light for a 120 size plane
. I can't wait to see how she flies.
My extra was about 3500 gms with the saito and that dint do 3D. Now with a 15x4 APC i bet this should be able to hover. Fingers crossed !
**Update the dry weight of the Pitts 12 is 3550 with 120 gms of tail weight to make it tail heavy and snappy.
Will post some pics
Cheers
Sunil
